It’s almost that time of year again! Just a fews days away in fact..
Deaf Pet Awareness Week is celebrated every year during the last full week of September. This year, Deaf Pet Awareness Week runs from Sunday, September 18th through Saturday September 24th. Pet lovers everywhere, not just those who share their lives with deaf pets, work to raise awareness about deaf pets (yes, they DO exist!), training, safety and other needs. Here are 5 simple ways anyone can help celebrate Deaf Pet Awareness Week!
Beginning next week, I’ll be sharing information lost of information here on the blog as well as on social media, most especially Instagram and Pinterest. Later this week, I’ll be appearing on The Pet Show with Dr. Katy in Washington D.C., where I’ll be discussing senior dogs and hearing loss. I’ll also be a guest on the Vegas Rock Dog Radio show on Saturday, September 17th. Stay tuned for links so you can watch or listen to them both!
Even hearing dogs can lose their hearing! With an ever increasing population of senior dogs who are experiencing hearing loss, much like humans do as they get older, you can share information about hearing loss and senior dogs with your friends, family, followers and readers.

Make a small donation to Deaf Dogs Rock! Even a small $5, $10 or $20 donation will help this national not-for-proift sponsor deaf dogs in need into rescues and foster homes where they can get the training and care they need. They also support transport programs, provide medical care for deaf dogs in need and they maintain an comprehensive list of adoptable deaf dogs that are looking for their forever home.
Write blog post or share something on social meda about your favorite deaf dog! Of course, my deaf dogs Edison and Foster get my vote, but Nitro, Bud or Bowie of Deaf Dogs Rock and Keller of Keller’s Cause are some other deaf dogs doing some important work for deaf dogs everywhere!
