Prison dog training programs are becoming quite popular throughout the United States. Through these programs, prisoners help needy dogs learn basic obedience skills who in turn help prisoners learn a skill that can help them gain employment upon release. It’s a symbiotic relationship that gives a second chance to at-risk offenders, both human and canine.
Stay tuned for an exciting and important new post on Miami’s new jail dog training program!!
love that! every prison here in WA offers some type of animal (dog & cat) programs – training, socialization, etc. (http://www.doc.wa.gov/facilities/prison/animaltrainingprograms.asp) – and some of the pups are highly sought out if they’ve graduated from one of these programs!
I am really looking forward to hearing more about this!
A friend of mine was over this program in a Texas prison. They do incredible work and should be in every state.
M.K., these are fantastic programs! I was very excited to write about Miami’s new program. I hope it grows bigger and bigger!
Amazing work! Can’t wait to hear more about it.
