@HelloNuzzle…I Think I Love You!

In many ways, caring for a deaf dog isn’t that much different than caring for hearing dogs. There are a few exceptions, mainly when it comes to communication and safety. Communication is an obvious difference but safety is something that often gets overlooked.
I’ve said repeatedly, “If he can’t see you, he can’t hear you”, and this applies as much to keeping him safe as much as it does to talking to him!
Imagine your deafie loose on the street. Whereas a hearing dog can hear potential dangers- oncoming cars, loose dogs approaching, excited but uninformed children running up from behind to say hi- a deaf dog has no idea that his environment is changing. Each of these situations has the potential to end with tragic consequences.
Keeping a deaf dog safe does require extra thought and effort. Check out my list of deaf dog safety tips. Most of these steps are very inexpensive and easy to do. The exciting news today is that technology is now making it so much easier for those of us who share our lives with deaf dogs to keep them safe and our own blood pressure down!
One of my new favorite products and tips is the The Nuzzle® GPS smart collar. Not content to offer an always-on GPS collar that uses cellular connection- which is pretty amazing in and of itself- the creators of the Nuzzle GPS collar really put some thought into offering many other benefits to it’s customers and the dogs they adore.
Easy Set Up
To set up your Nuzzle GPS collar, there are 3 simple steps:
- Insert the rechargeable battery and tracker into the collar
- Put the collar on your dog
- Set up your deaf dog’s profile on the smartphone app
That’s it! You’re now ready to track your deaf dog and so much more!
Cellular Connectivity with No Extra Data Plan Needed!
The Nuzzle GPS collar uses cellular connectivity, not WiFi, and there is no extra data plan that you have to subscribe to! The Nuzzle is the ONLY GPS collar that makes it this easy to keep track of your dog without going broke every month. The cost of cellular data is built into the purchase price of the collar, so after the one-time, upfront purchase price, there is never any additional cost!
Smartphone/ Tablet App
The Nuzzle GPS collar works in tandem with a free smartphone or tablet app, which allows you to track your dog in real time. In addition to location, you can use your smartphone to check on his activity level. Is he resting? Is he walking? is he running? You can see all of this and more on your phone, no matter where you’re at.
Impact Detection
The Nuzzle GPS collar also offers an “impact detection” alert. This notification means that the collar has been hit hard, whether it’s roughhousing with his packmates or something more dangerous. This function alerts you and allows you to check on him, making sure everything is okay. If an emergency has happened, seconds count. Being notified that an impact has occurred allows you to take action immediately!

Geo-fencing
On your smartphone app, you can set geographic boundaries for your dog. If he moves outside of this area, you are immediately alerted. This boundary can be your house, the perimeter of your property or some portion of it. You decide! You set the boundaries according to your needs and Nuzzle will take care of the rest.
Temperature Monitoring & Waterproof Design
We all know the dangers of extreme temperatures and how they can affect our dogs. Whether too hot or too cold, it is important to know if your deaf dog is getting into dangerous territory. The Nuzzle GPS tracker is designed to be waterproof and also monitors your dog’s temperature. Living here in the tropics of South Florida where the seasons are hot or hotter, wet or wetter, water safety and temperature monitoring are very important to me.
Medical & Health Insurance Information at Your Fingertips
The Nuzzle smartphone app allows you to store important health insurance and medical information, so you can easily access it- anywhere, anytime. Not having to remember critical information in the event of emergency or a regular health check up is real peace of mind that I love.
So you have the perfect, personalized “I’m Deaf” collar that you don’t want to give up?? No worries! The Nuzzle GPS tracker can be attached to your favorite collar or harness!
If you’re like me and can’t wait to add the Nuzzle GPS collar to your arsenal of deaf dog safety tools and tricks, pop on over to their Indiegogo fundraiser page. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering that a lifetime of cellular data is included. You can purchase one or more immediately or make a contribution.
Either way, make sure you sign up for email updates here.
Let’s Recap!
How would you incorporate a Nuzzle GPS smart collar into your deaf dog safety routine? Do you plan on buying one or more? Did you check out the very reasonable pricing information?
I love this idea. Pierre has chased a rabbit under our back fence twice and it scared the heck out of me! **Visit BFTB NETWoof News for my exciting top story today!!
Heading over now!
I love it!! Could not find the price.
Hi Barbara, follow the the Indiegogo link near the end.
The impact detection feature is neat! And I can definitely see how this would be useful for deaf dogs.
I love the impact detection notification. Though with 4 large bully-breed boys who play by body slamming each other, I’m sure my phone will be dinging and donging all the time!
Haha. The false alarms could be a little annoying. We had a dog in our neighborhood who got lost and was on the run for three weeks. Her owners could definitely have used this!
That’s a very good device. Now, our pets is our control and safe too.
Dex is getting one of these and I know a friend whose dog can use one – he tends to bolt eek
I love the idea of this collar. Pyrs are roamers so I’m always telling new parents to get a GPS collar!
I’ve heard nothing but great things about these collars. I’m thinking Miss Nike is going to have one very soon! Thanks for sharing!
