I’m more than a little humbled to be featured in Deaf Dogs Rock Rescue Warrior project. Sure, I am pretty dedicated to deaf dog awareness, deaf dog rescue and generally improving the lives of deaf dogs everywhere. Some might say I’m obsessed, but for me, it’s part of the bargain when you adopt a deaf dog, then two. I have sung loud the praises of Deaf Dogs Rock from the beginnings of my blog because Christina and Chris, the founders of DDR, are the true rescue warriors. It is because of their fierce commitment and non-stop advocacy for deaf dogs, a lifelong mission that started when they met their dog Nitro, that made my life with Edison, and then Foster, even possible. A few years down the road, I find myself honored by two of the people I most admire. I also find myself in the company of some pretty spectacular people fighting the good fight, and doing some impressive work in the process.
Working with Deaf Dogs Rock has been a privilege and one that I hope continues to grow and flourish. One day soon, I hope to give them both warm hugs and handshakes, and properly express my gratitude and appreciation with double shots of bourbon at a honky tonk with Miranda Lambert singing from the jukebox, with Nitro, Bud, Edison and Foster watching our every move.
You can view the entire project here. And here are some photos from the project featuring Edison and me.
(Oh, and P.S….I’d love to know which of the figures in the graphic above represents me! Dare I hope Barbarella??)
