A few weeks back, Deaf Dogs Rock celebrated their 4th birthday! If you remember, I did a special post about it. If you missed it, no worries, you can read it here. Seriously. you should look. There are some great photos there!
As a way of saying thank you for four years of hard work and countless hours helping thousands of deaf dogs, I posed a challenge to my readers: For every dollar donated, I would match it 100%. From August 1 through August 15, my fantastic readers- you, my wonderful friends- donated $575.00. With the matching funds, that totals $1150.00.
So, what is being done with the money you so generously donated?? Well, I think you’ll be proud.
That $1150.00 gave Deaf Dogs Rock the funds to sponsor eight deaf dogs into private rescues. Jeorgia and seven others were pulled from open-admit shelters that euthanize dogs (blame the system, not the shelter staff!) if they aren’t adopted within a specific period of time. These eight deafies are now free from the threat of euthanasia, are in the care of organizations that can provide the training they deserve and need and now these 8 deafies are patiently waiting for their new family to find them. Your donation literally saved eight lives! Give yourself a round of applause. You just made the world a whole lot better!
But this happy ending wouldn’t have happened without the support of some excellent rescue organizations. I can’t thank these good people enough for the work they are doing on behalf of deaf dogs. Edison sends an extra-big hug!Angel Dog Foundation Deaf Dog Ranch
And to make this feel good story feel even better, here are a few more photos of the Chief of Cuteness at Deaf Dogs Rock, Bowie Lee. He kind of makes me want to bring another deaf dog home!
